fin aid and full time status

do grants and fin aid require 12 or 13 units for full time status? my orientation counselor told me 13 but i have heard and read 12?

13 units to be considered full-time.

I'm pretty sure its 12 units.

Check this link under "unit requirements":

its 12 units

So the definitive answer is 12 units for full fin aid? My 2nd pass is today and classes are closing left and right. All the classes I want also just happen to conflict on Tues-Thurs. Ahh!

yes the definitive answer is 12 units for finaid...

WHAT IS THE QUARTERLY UNIT REQUIREMENT TO MAINTAIN ELIGIBILITY FOR AID?

The Financial Aid Office checks your units on the census date at the end of the third week of classes. Enrollment below half time on that date will result in cancellation of your aid and billing for funds received.

For a graduate student, the minimum unit requirement is half time of 4 units. Half-time enrollment for an undergraduate student is 6 units.

Some undergraduate awards (Federal Pell Grant, Cal Grant B Stipend) require enrollment in 12 units to maintain maximum eligibility. Enrollment below 12 units on the census date will result in reduction of and billing for these awards. ACG and SMART Grant eligibility will be canceled , if enrolled below full time.

Federal Grants (Pell, ACG, SMART) will not be reinstated if your unit count increases after the census date.

NOTE: Once aid is reduced/canceled, it will not be reinstated automatically, if the unit count increases after the census date. CAL Grant stipends and loans, however, can be reinstated based on student's request once increase in units is verified.

On a somewhat related note, remember that you have to keep up with expected cumulative progress. <a href="http://www.college.ucla.edu/up/counseling/regulations/exprog.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.college.ucla.edu/up/counseling/regulations/exprog.htm</a> That's where the 13-unit thing comes in - that's probably what your OC was talking about.

nevermind, i went 15 but had to load up on tues and thursdays..

And apparently it was changed to 13.
<a href="http://www.today.ucla.edu/2001/010626senate.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.today.ucla.edu/2001/010626senate.html</a></p>

I called the financial aid office and they said that 12 was full time and then I asked about what UCLA considers full time for insurance purposes and they said 12. Although I seemed to have connected to a student worker or something, I am still not sure which it is.

I think allie said something about 13 for DPR purposes?
