Hi, my name is Marco
This is my first post at CC and I was jsut wondering what Fin Aid did students receive from BC.
Boston College Schol’Ship $1,650 $1,650 $0 $3,300
Federal Pell Grant-Est $2,155 $2,155 $0 $4,310
Federal Perkins Loan $750 $750 $0 $1,500
Federal S.E.O.G. $200 $200 $0 $400
Fed Sub Stafford Loan-Est $1,750 $1,750 $0 $3,500
Federal Work-Study $1,100 $1,100 $0 $2,200
Approved Totals $7,605 $7,605 $0 $15,210

I think i remember seeing my EFC to be zero

The reason I’m asking is because i apply for my fin aid kind of late. Fafsa was completed mid march and css profile on april 4th. Maybe this affected my Finical aid package signifcantly.
So I’m trying to figure out if i do decide to attend BC, would the fin aid for my second year be dramatically increased if I apply before priority date?

Thank you

yup, but may some students post up how much they got for fin aid please, so I can compare mines. ( if they dont' mind of course...)

Thank You

Boston College Schol'Ship $0 $14,200 $14,200 $0 $28,400
Fed Sub Stafford Loan-Est $0 $1,750 $1,750 $0 $3,500
Federal Perkins Loan $0 $500 $500 $0 $1,000
Federal Work-Study $0 $1,100 $1,100 $0 $2,200
Approved Totals $0 $17,550 $17,550 $0 $35,100

omg.......... it makes that much of a difference :(

you should really call boston college financial service and explain your current situation... i mean if ur really thinking about boston college, but have a financial situation, you should really figure out the facts, because if you do attend and ur financial aid does not increase dramatically, then you will come out of college with a major debt (unless ur willing to work it off..its been done)... wen i called the financial aid office, they told me that every person gets the amount of financial aid they need whether or not its late... so call them and find out, its good to find out from the source...also go to Admitted Eagles Sunday (if u can), they have a couple financial aid reps there and you can have a one-on-one session w/ them...

To be completely honest with you, my package seems awfully high to me. By no means are my parents hurting for money, so this large of a F.A. package took us by surprise. I suppose that both my siblings and myself being in college at the same time may have played a roll in how much I received, but I'm not sure.

So, yeah, I guess you applying for F.A. late may have made your package a little lower than expected. Give the F.A. department a call ASAP to try and work something out.

:) thx for all the advice. I called today but it was close since it was patriots day i think lol. I'llc all tomorrow and update you guys. Thank you

Well i called the FA office yesterday.

I asked if my lateness in handing in my apps contributed to the low fin aid and he said no. As far as he was concern, all my applications were on time.

He said he sent me a clarification mail, which will ask me to calrify all my assets and maybe it will raise my fin aid when they recieve it. Other then that, I would have to send in a appeal form in order for them to reevaluate my package.

Also i asked if he can estimate how much my package will go up when my sister goes to college in 2008-2009 year, his rough draft would be a 40% increase.... which is not much i guess lol

So i'm visiting friday to see if i like BC, if not i might start taking loans...
