So i have a question. Will colleges ever ask you to pay less than your EFC(expected financial contribution)? For example, if you put down that you can afford to contribute 15k a year to college, will a college ask you to pay less in hopes of your attending their specific college? I ask this because i often here about people getting a "full ride" financial wise, which would mean that they would obviously be paying less than what they said they could afford to ie. nothing lol.

There are very few full rides and kids here saying they got one are often misusing the term.

What many mean is that they qualified for a need based package where their family has no contribution based on having 100% need.

The are a few full merit aid rides out there for kids with excellent stats, usually at schools where they are at the very top of the heap. So a kid who can get into a top 15 school can often get a free ride at Alabama or Auburn.

Paying less than your EFC unless it’s very low typically means getting a significant merit scholarship.
