Hey everyone,

First of all, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I have a question about applying for fin. aid @Johns Hopkins U. I am an international student and the website doesn't state whether applying for Fin. Aid will hurt my acceptance chances. I'm not sending an email to JHU because on top of being a weekend it's Christmas! So I'm asking you guys:

Does applying for Fin. Aid at Johns Hopkins as an international student hurt my chances?

I got this from the Collegeboard website:
* International students eligible for need-based aid
* Number of enrolled international undergraduates received aid: 16
* Total amount awarded : $401,636

Also, 6% of the 1st year students are internationals. There are 1050 freshmen undergrads, so that's 63 internationals. Some help please :O?

Thanks!

I checked on the Johns Hopkins website to see if they said they were need blind or need aware. I found no mention of this.

This is the page I was on: http://www.jhu.edu/finaid/international.html

It only says international students are eligible for aid. I take this to mean that JH is not need blind to internationals. Only a few universities are. So I guess it would be better to assume they are not need blind until proven wrong. Perhaps someone else has some insight. I would assume they are not need blind and would take your need for financial aid into consideration.

Thanks scarletleavy, you are probably right. IF only a few universities are need-blind for internationals, then if JH doesn't specify I guess it probably is not.

Can somebody provide some insight?

No problem. I suggest if you can't find anymore information to email them directly and ask. That way you would probably get an honest answer out of them.

16 is for all the four classes, so only 4 freshman on average can be aided.
