Have people received their financial aid packages?
I received my acceptance letter/packet mid-March, but I have yet to receive any financial aid stuff. Should I be worried?

I got my FA package with the acceptance packet (early write) in march, and my FA app was still missing some pieces (noncustodial parents 2005 tax stuff). Why don't you call the FA office and see what the deal is.

so if you haven't gotten any finaid stuff yet, is that bad? Is there a certain date that you should receive it by? Was it supposed to come with your acceptance letter?

I got the prelim one when I got my ED package, but I have not gotten my final one. I called in Feb to ask if I was missing anything and they said no. I'm not sure if I should be calling again or not.

My friend hasn't received a finaid package yet...does that mean he is not going to receive aid?

I called the office yesterday and the lady said I should be receiving it very shortly.

i received mine today. unbelievably generous package. several thousand higher than that of princeton, all grant. WOW

So are you still considering Williams??

hello, wow they beat Princeton! Unbelievable!

OP, did your acceptance letter say anything about when you'll receive a finaid letter? Mine stated that I should receive it within a few days (Got it before March 15).

wow congrats!

Williams gave me a $42,000 a year grant. I am thrilled.

now say you didn't file yet..... or don't ever plan to because you don't think you won't get much, is there any point to filing if your parents have a combined salary of 200k+? How easy is it to get a job in Williamstown?

There are tons of restaurants in W-town, a shockingly large number given the population. Many students get jobs as waiters. Alot of other students get research jobs or on-campus jobs.

I haven't received my FA package yet. I need to make my decision soon, asfghsj. Amherst gave me a fabulous one, though.

Call up the fin-aid office and have them fax it to you

their offer's making it hard for me to decide. plus, they give intels like $200 stipend..

Hello123:
You initially applied ED to Williams right? So that implies that Williams was your clear first choice. Plus it's paying you several thousand dollars more (and also paying for return tickets to your home country each summer). So it's a very easy decision to make isnt it?

Sorry to jumpstart an old thread...
But does anyone know whether it's possible to negotiate with the college to have your parent's contribution reduced? I mean, my finaid offer is incredibly generous, but the final award requires my parents to pay more than was estimated in the ED award, and the extra amount would be an impossible burden for them. Is it very difficult to have your revised finaid offer re-revised?

Hi, Fida' 10. we may have similar experience here -- the college requires my parents to contribute much more than I expected(crying~~). I emailed the finaid officer the first week of Apr and it seems no further adjustment could be made from his reply. I thought the college is very generous~~ but maybe it's less generous to int'ls(as I am)?

From what I understand, it can be reviewed in January 2007 based on final (as opposed to estimated) 2006 financial information -- with adjustments made for both semesters if necessary.
