fin aid packages?

Does anybody know when fin aid packages go out. Are they with the decisions or shortly thereafter. An acceptance isn't going to mean much without the $.

they're posted on opus.............

"Regular Decision Award Notification Begins April 1, 2009"

Hopefully they will be send out quickly.

It's hard on my S knowing that he's accepted at Oxford (his ED first choice) but he still doesn't know if we can afford to send him there. :(

Oh well, hopefully this will all be over in a couple of weeks now for everybody.

Good luck with your FA.

motherofmine - does Emory not send FA info with an ED acceptance? Thanks.

hobie1 - no FA info with ED. We just have to wait and see.

We do know of some scholarship money but that is not enough and so we are waiting on the FA award packages to arrive.

Oh well, only a couple more weeks then we can sit at the dinner table and decide the best school for the best price and how we can afford it. We are blessed with choices and options. :)

i read from another post that rd decisions are coming out on the 28th? hopefully the financial aid package comes out then too!

FA awards should come out a few days after decisions go out

the 28th is the confirmed date for oxford decisions and only speculative for Emory.

My Emory FA Package has been posted today on OPUS... maybe they started posting today or posted everyone's FA package today.

So URM's get their FA awards posted before everyone else, including ED students? :(

^ is the FA package a good deal???

Me and my financial advisor just finished my financial aid documentation submission so I will let you guys know when mine is posted.

^ you have a financial advisor??

VandyPrayer - All financial aid documents were due prior to March 1. According to the Emory website "Students Whose Files Are Complete By March 1st Will Receive Online Award Notifications Prior to the May 1st Admission deadline".

Since your documents are soooo late, I wouldn't exprect your awards to be posted with everyone elses.

All of my financial documents had been turned in and my financial award had been finalized. The thing was that I hadn't sent in a 3rd party letter from my guidance counselor (This is for the non-custodial waiver.). I talked over the phone with Delicia Lucky on about this yesterday.

Basically, they needed the letter from the guidance counselor to waive the non-custodial waiver. That's what I meant by financial documents.

And I meant to say Financial AID Advisor. My mistake.

^^^ yeah hows your financial aid package? good?

I haven't gotten it yet. The 2 noncustodial documents were waived this morning. I will tell everyone mine when I get it.

I think you should be asking the above guy about his package.
As a matter of fact, how much money did they give you...?

VandyPrayer, Glad you got the noncustodial documents waived. :)

Sounds like you had everything else alread done, so you should be on track to get your awards with everyone else.

Good luck.

I'm not URM, I got in through ED/Emory Scholars.

oh. interesting! well i sent an email to the financial office, and the person said that if you applied on time, you will receive your package on OPUS on April 1st. yikes! I don't know. I think the guy is just saying the date on the site, which sometimes is not accurate. ( take the decision notification date for example. On the site it says notification begins on april 1st, but its actually on the 28th!) there's still a slight chance that financial aid package will come on the 28th too lol. I'm dying to see the financial aid package. I just hope that I can be 100% sure about going to Emory next year!

DD2 applied and accepted through Emory Scholars (made it up to but not including campus visit for Woodruff, etc), so we've known about acceptance for a while. Got the financial aid package in the mail today... hadn't checked OPUS for a few days.

$5500 in loans
$2000 in work study
rest in grants, scholarships, and EFC.

YAY!
