Novasis site had son's package posted today...EA applicant

Mine is up, too. I have a question. The "Financing Option" is greater than my EFC. I thought I would receive enough aid to get us down to that EFC number. This is the only private school I have heard from on FA so far. Are they all like that? Did I misunderstand what the EFC is? I thought that was the most we would have to pay/borrow.

D's is slightly higher than EFC as well. I think she lost out on some things because she didn't apply EA....received all the info, but didn't know she wanted to apply there until late in the game.

Son's financing amt about 2,000 more then EFC. Have 2 in college so before this was paying full amt for Georgetown!! Def. can't do that twice. Still waiting on other school's fin aid

I did get admitted EA and got all my stuff in on time. Again, does anyone know why they don't at least meet the EFC? Aren't they supposed to? Sounds like no....Anyone have experience with this at other universities? Are they all similar? This is the first experience my family has had with private schools....

where exactly do you do to see your fa package?

I didn't send my w-2 forms and tax things for 2007.. does that mean I cant look at it yet?

Bandnerd, unfortunately most private schools actually don't meet your EFC. A few private schools have a policy to meet "100% of need", like Princeton, which means they will cover everything up to your EFC. However, most other private schools only cover about 80%, depending on the school.

Stephi, check under your Novasis account, Financial Aid. It will tell you if you have "unsatisfied requirements", which you need to fulfill before you get your aid package. Your W-2s and tax forms are definitely needed. Thanks, Kellie for clearing that up for me!! Apparently we were under a HUGE misconception!

when will we be notified of merit money?

Merit money is included in the description of your financial aid package.

My financial aid was terrible. They expect me to fund 10,000 more per year than my parents are able to pay. Time to cross Villanova off my list...

any int with good aid??

My financing option is $12,000 more than my EFC! And that doesn't include my work study and fed. loans! How can that be? Why are they so cheap?

boo, i cant find anything about scholarship money on there :( and i had a 34/3.93

CK, can you find your FA on Novasis? I was a Pres. Scholarship semifinalist and only got $2000 for that!! I had a 35/4.0 UW/4.6W/2270SAT. $2000....maybe I am considered Geographically Undesirable? Where are you from?

My son just found out his FA on novasis. What is the VU financial option? From what I can find, it is an option to pay over a period of 10 months. Do I have this right?

If so, his award was not satisfactory to meet our needs...15k over the EFC plus student loans.

Yes, bonmar. We have determined it is your "cash out of pocket". Divide it by 10 for your monthly financing payments. Or, I assume you can get a private loan to pay it. Most of the posters here are saying their EFCs were not met.

My EFC was actually surpassed by 4K.

Oh goodness, lrnprcll... that must be nice! :( There is an $8000 gap between my EFC and what was covered. I would have loved to go to Villanova but I guess it can't happen.

Oh, wowzers. I really AM counting my blessings... It doesn't sound like Villanova had a good year with giving f. aid out... Did anybody else get good financial aid?
