@BlizzBlazer - how did they notify you about merit scholarships?

It is listed on the financial aid form along with any other awards you receive. I remember an admissions officer telling me they only range up to 20k though. Or I just made that up with my groggy mind after that 7 hour car ride.

Only got around $21,000 a year. My EFC’s $11,000. So, Carnegie Mellon is not happening for me next year. It’s a great school, but I can’t pass up another cheaper opportunity. It did make my decision a bit easier: Georgetown!

Congrats to everyone attending!

To answer mom2012and14’s question- I found my financial aid letter while looking at my “where am I in the process” - yes, the age-old haunt from freshman year admission. I applied as an internal transfer to design, so really that was the only reason for me even being there. It does, however, have all of information for financial aid, so I bet that other students have their FA info located there. There was link at the top that said “Financial Aid notification letter”. Today was the first day the letter opened when I clicked on the link. I am not sure exactly what I am going to do. Hope this helps others.

Stupid question, but what is a grant exactly? CMU gave me 35k and i’m extremely happy. Is it like a mix of financial aid and merit, or completely financial aid?

I believe that for monay that doesn’t have to be paid back, “grant” is the term used for need-based and “scholarship” is the term used for merit-based.

Does anyone else still not have their financial aid info up?

I’m fairly certain all of my financial documents are in…

^ I haven’t gotten mine either, and I know they have recieved all my documents.

I’m getting nervous though, because doesn’t this mean I’ll get less grant money? I may call them on Monday.

So I called the HUB today and apparently everything was just a glitch. the letter was not even valid. there should NOT be a letter in your “where am I…” (you people must have thought I was crazy)

Apparently financial aid for returning students won’t reach us for another couple weeks. really sorry about any confusion I may have caused…perhaps I will keep my mouth shut next time.

I got about 40k in grants
I’m EXTREMELY happy about it!

Still no notification… :(

^ You should really call them already. You should have received it by now if everything is in.

40k Grant for me So excited now I might actually be able to attend!!

Just checked my financial aid (for a scholarship application) and my grant went from 25k to 33.3k!!! I’m so happy! Definitely going to CMU now.

I’m really surprised; this is the best package received BY FAR

We are still waiting on the decision on our FA appeal. I hope CMU meets the offer my D got from RPI!

We still don’t see an offer. Will wait till monday and call.

Does anyone know what the tartan tradition grant is?like how you get it.
