Finaid at Stanford...

Does the financial aid offers usually decrease over time? (Like does the Expective student contribution increase?) I heard at MIT, the financial aid offer decreases over time, because Expected student contribution increases.

Are there horror stories about changes in finaid policies?

thanks.

PS: I'm specifically interested in how good finaid is for pton, compared to Harvard, MIT, Stanford. A compare and contrast kind of approach would be nice

faraday, read this if you are considering Princeton. Regardless all other things, grade deflation will hurt your chance to go to grad school. The same thing to MIT.

Yes, the financial aid offer usually decreases over time-for the same reason MIT stated-you should be able to make more cash over the summer as you become older. Other than that, as it states clearly on Stanford’s financial aid website, if your family circumstances remain the same, you can expect the financial aid award to stay the same. Personally, I would not be afraid of grade deflation at MIT-especially if you are studying engineering/physics at any school, including Stanford. Though I would like to know, are you still seriously considering Stanford at this point?
