FinAid info is online

If you log on and click on “financial aid award packages” and then go to the top of the page and click “forward-year 2008-2009,” the info is there. My son got $3,500 per year in an unsubsidized Stafford loan and the $27,000 per year Presidential scholarship. Relief!

Congrats! I was a little disappointed since I only got a leadership scholarship for $6,000 per year and total with grants and everything was only about $18,000 per year.

So I didn't get the email but got the scholarship info online :) Anyone know what the top scholarship money awarded is? (Merit Wise)

How close were they to meeting your EFCs. My EFC was 20000 and I got 3500. Im obviously not going. Hopefully I get into somewhere that I can afford.

My EFC was around 12000 or 15000 and I only got about 18K from them, which seems like a lot, but it would still cost me nearly 27K to attend

18k merit or need-based?

I got the leadership scholarship for 6,000 and then about 10,000 in grants and the rest in loans. I mean I was somewhat okay with it but it's not up to par with some of the other offers I've received. EFC is 12K but yet American is going to cost me 27K? I am crossing American right off the list

my EFC was 14000, and i got 22200 in grants, merit aid, loans, and work study. not as much as ive received from schools i might rather go to, so well see.

How much is the total cost of AU so I can figure out how much it would cost me after scholarship?

the website gives 47600 as the total cost with books, travel, personal expenses, etc.

Mk. So it would cost me like 17k to go I guess.

I got the Deans Scholarship good for $20K a year, so that brings it down to around $27K a year, which is much more doable than $47 or so at other colleges. For me, American is looking like a very good possibility.

Is Presidential the top scholarship?

I only received the $6000 leadership scholarship. I have not received my need-based award yet. I turned in the forms by the 15th of February, but I had to correct them and my new SAR is just getting to the colleges. Luckily, I have a low EFC, so I should get a pretty decent need based award.

The Presidential is the top, followed by the Deans, followed by the Leadership.

Ooh, I feel special then :) And then I also got a loan for 3k, but didn't even apply for fin. aid... What does that mean?

Note--- I did send in my Fafsa/CSS but clicked on my app that I was not applying for fin. aid. I sent in the fafsa/css in case it was needed for merit info.

You can decline the loan. All students are eligible for Stafford loans -- if they have need the loans are subsidized and if not they are unsubsidized.

Ah ok. Mine is unsubsidized.

For the people who are saying they got $3500 but needed more -- that it just the Stafford loan that all students are eligible for. I don't think this is the full package, is it? Just loans and merit. So don't despair! Good news in the form of need-based aid should still be on the way!

All together, mine is 37181...

And it costs, what, 47000? Is that all, or is there more that I'm missing or isn't listed there? I'm sort of confused. As it stands, I definitely can't go. That's a 10,000 dollar gap...

(I'm really sorry, I know it's kind of impolite to list money stuff like that, but I'm sort of confused.)
