I thought I would start a new thread that might help others in the future, this information certainly helped us. Thought i would describe my s., the process, and the outcome:
My s. had 2010 SAT, 3.7 GPA, lots of extra curricular activities in the arts: improv, a cappella, solo choir, large range of theatre experience at public high school with strong arts department (from Shakespeare to Shrek), Summer theatre, Theatre internship. He got an audition coach for the college process, which was a really good move. I don’t think he would have been well prepared for the process otherwise. He also created a list that he would be happy with any of the schools, since we really didn’t know how he would fare. He ended up getting into 9 of the 11 schools, with some great funding from quite a few. He also had a great attitude, which was that he would just do the best he could, let go of the outcome and enjoy all of it! (I wish I could say that I was just as chill about it, but I found it all anxiety provoking!)
Here is the list of schools he applied to and the outcomes:
CMU-he withdrew his application and canceled his audition. he just knew he didn’t want to go there.
Juilliard-no callback during audition day
USC-denied
Chapman-admitted BFA Screen Acting (his 1st choice from the beginning & where he has decided to go)
Occidental-admitted
LMU-admitted
Drew-admitted
BU-admitted
UNCSA-admitted
PACE-admitted BFA TV/Film/Voiceover
