Final Acting Decisions Background - Class of 2022

Wonderful, best of luck to your daughter!

@rutgersmom321 - wow, what an amazing journey, thank you for sharing it with all of us, but for me, yahoo, we get to meet in real life and can’t wait to see your talented son take on all that UNCSA has to offer. Thank you for so many thoughtful, helpful posts all year long. Congratulations on a great ride!

@actorparent1 - Thank you so much for sharing your journey with your D this year. She was so clear in what she wanted and your great research paid off because her options align with her goals, way to go. Hartt seems to be a wonderful fit and I hope now you can both sit back and enjoy that she will be immersed in great place! Thanks for always weighing in so helpfully all year long. Congratulations on Hartt!

@actorparent1 - Wow. SO very glad that your D loves Hartt and after all that roller coastering, I can see where the call from Pace was just an absolute mind-blower. She really got put through the ringer by the audition process and I am beyond happy that she has a wonderful match school. Congratulations!!!

@actorparent1 - I loved reading your story. Congratulations to your D for landing such a great option. I loved that she knew what she did and didn’t wantin a program. I think the long stories like these, with detailed explanations of what it’s really like in the “trenches” will be helpful to future applicants. Here your D already has her equity card, she has great auditions and she still suffers rejection. Future applicants: no matter how great your S or D is- they are going to suffer rejection in this process. It stinks!!! Make sure your lists are balanced. Have back-up plans that your S or D would REALLY be ok with.

Congratulations to your daughter @actorparent1 and welcome to the Hartt family. I’m sitting in a hotel room nearby right now with my daughter who is studying for a final tomorrow. It’s time to pack her up this week and bring her back home. She has juries this week and then a much needed break after a very intense year of complete immersion! Your daughter will be working hard and loving every minute I’m sure!!

Thanks so much @actingdreams, @FourStars, @laylamom, @CaMom13, @MomofJ5, and @sopranomtmom!

I have said it a bunch of time, I am a huge fan of the Hartt Program! @actorparent1 your daughter is going to thrive! She has made the best decision - in my mind. Her resiliency and “eye on the prize” attitude seems to be a required trait for this industry.

I’d like to concur on one point you made: Rutgers- Yes! I wish we had known to go to NYC Unifieds for that audition. D’s auditors were from the admissions department - not even theatre faculty. She had the same experience as your D with the moving to rooms and the videos. Seems like a good point for next year’s group to be aware of.

I loved reading your story. Welcome to New England! (Don’t tell your D, but we get plenty of snow. )

Thanks, @ginaf1102! And YES, one useful tip we can give future auditioners: Do Rutgers in NYC!

LOL about the snow! True, it probably will be worse than New York (but still not as bad as Ithaca, lol).

@actorparent1 Congratulations to you and your D!

@actorparent1 Wow! What a story that had me glued to the computer screen! You wrote it SO well. So much detail that I felt all the anxiety in my gut. Brought me back to those not-so-long-ago feelings! I am very happy for your D and sounds like she deserves the wonderful program at Hartt. Congrats!!

Thanks so much, @artskids and @HopeinMT!

@actorparent1 Huge congratulations! What a fantastic story and Hartt will be an amazing experience!!! Best of luck and so excited for your D!

Thanks, @frontrowmama!

Great report, @actorparent1 , congratulations. It sounds like you and your D did a great job in finding a fabulous program for the training she desires. I bet she will be very happy.

@Thanks, @owensfolks!

@actorparent1 - Congratulations on Hartt school! What a wonderful choice! I love these up and coming schools where you have a chance to be the artist you want to be. How exciting! Has anyone started a “Theater Class of 2022 - To Be Continued” thread so that we can keep up with how all these kids like the programs? Just in case anyone wants to transfer at the end of Freshman year - we would have a ton of experienced people to help them decide!

Thanks, @Fergie978!

That’s a great idea, to start a thread for the 2022 college years! (Or a Facebook group - I know the MTers started one, but I’d love one for the acting kids!)

@Fergie978 That is a fantastic idea! I am sure we will all have so many stories to share and questions to ask! It could be a great extension for this forum and this group of amazing parents!! Keep us posted if someone makes a FB group!!

@actorparent1 - Did you say one was started for MT’ers? Wonder what it is called. I want to be on both threads because the paths between them in each school are very similar!
