FiNAL CHANCE THREAD! | FORDHAM |Good Gpa, Horrible SAT, GREAT EC's

Bangladesh, Living in New York City.

Transcript Avg = 94.3
2nd marking period grades came out avg: 98.6 (expecting over 100 3rd quarter)
Rank= 11/642? not finalized yet, but top 2 %

SAT I:

M-690 Cr-490 W-600 (superscored highest, i know its sad)

SAT II:
Math II - 680
Physics - 550 (took college physics, but never finished curriculum)

my highschool is not that competitive, but im in a pre med program
and have taken extra "pre-med" classes such as

Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Laboratory, and Microbiology.

Ap classes Taking/Taken:

Ap USH, Ap Composition, Ap Calculus AB, Ap Literature, Ap Biology
+College now Physics (3.7 gpa from the college, 8 credit course)

every other class i took was honors, so i have the most rigorous course load.

Recommendations: There going to be excellent, from my physics teacher who is the Assistant Principal of Science.

Essays: going to be great

EC's:

its a whole lot to name, but i do have a lot and all to my advantage.
some include::

-Student Government - Delegate
-District Attorney's Advisory Council
-Arista Honors Society
-Pre-Med Club/Committee
-JV bowling - won award (MVP)
-Case Study Initiative internship - with a doctor who graduated from my highschool.
- Starting projects in school and fund rasing to help organizations: (ex. Darfur, Leukemia and lymphoma, AIDS, Pre mature babies)
-Leadership class - where i get a lott of my EC's

In addition ive probably done every single type of "walk" that we were aware of and helping raise money for (Aids walk, Lupus walk, March of dimes etc..)

Theres a lot more i listed on my application, just not coming to mind now.

Now for the .....
Schools Im going to apply to:

-Fordham U (number 1 choice...they recieved my app RD)

-NYU (reach but oh well i have to try)
-Stony Brook
-Rutgers- New Brunswick
-Stevens Institute of Technology

Safety: CUNY Hunter.

Im interested in Pre-Med, probably with majoring in "Pre-Med", Chemistry or Physics.

THANKS!

in at all. reach for NYU.

^how certain? because im afraid my CR score will kill my admission for Fordham, any other good schools i can still apply to thats in NY>?

bumpp =/,,,,,

You CR score is below average, but if you're truly a dedicated person (which it looks like to me from your EC's), I think you can get into everywhere including NYU. You're obviously a great student looking at your grades.

Bump......

How can you have over 100 average?

^ AP Classes in my school are weighted and so are honors. My course load this marking period is Ap Biology, Leadership, AP Lit, and AP Hisotry. The score of the classes get multiplied by 1.1 so for example, if i get a 90 in US history (what shows up on my report card), when its averaged, its actually a 99. so i might have a 90 in all my classes. but my average will be over 95, get it?

i think you'll probably get into fordham, stevens, stony brook, maybe rutgers and definitely hunter. nyu however, like you said, is a definite reach.

i know you're worried about your cr score being too low but your extra curriculars might balance that out. i'd look into more leadership positions though.

good luck!

green topaz, what do u mean by leadership positions?

i didnt mention but im founder of a tutoring club in both math and physics. Also im part of student gov't and i have the leadership class itself where i do activities and stuff.

bump bump bump
