The schools are:
Harvard (mother and grandmother went undergraduate, uncle and grandfather went graduate)
Cornell (grandfather went undergraduate and taught there)
University of Virginia
Washington University in St. Louis
Emory
Vanderbilt
Boston University (safety)
Syracuse University (safety)

Please do not post just saying stuff about legacy at Harvard and Cornell. I know those are huge reaches even with legacy. Please I am much more interested in chances at Emory, Vanderbilt, etc.

bump..................................

bup.................................................................

BUMP./ipj................................................

You'll definitely get into everything besides Harvard and Cornell. You're more likely to get into Cornell than Harvard, but I definitely would not rule you out for either.

are you sure? even with the bad class rank?

im pretty sure class rank is why i got deferred from georgetown ea. but there were a lot of other factors their i guess (another person applying, religion, etc.)

cornell cares much more about legacy in ED round..u missed ur chance to enhance the legacy effect..but i m pretty sure it still helps..i, a legacy, for example, got defered even though i m merely top 50% of the class with 2150 SATs..which in the most common case, it should be a flat out reject

I wouldn't say definitely but the chances are obviously higher. SAT score is good but you're right at the average score range of people who are accepted into Harvard. What's your average GPA? It looks like it'd be around 3.8-3.9.

Washington University in St. Louis - Less of a match than Emory but not quite a reach
Emory - Test scores are spot on for the 75th percentile. Match
Vanderbilt - Match

thanks. do i simply have no shot at UVA because of class rank?

11% of UVA's students that were admitted were above top 25% but below top 10%. I wouldn't base your entire decision to submit an app on your class rank though. Everything else that you have is pretty strong.

alright thank you

anyone else?
