Final Chances

Hey guys after SATs if you could hit me with some final chances thatd be great :)

Applying ED. Legacy applicant, extremely competitive public high school, no ranking
GPA: 3.6 UW (7 AP courseload by graduation, almost all honors except in 3 yrs math), about a 3.67 first quarter with 4 APs
SAT: 2300
V: 740 M: 760 W: 800
SAT2: 780 US history, 700 Bio

AP Scores: English-language 5, USHistory: 5, APBio: 4

Extracurriculars:
-Student Body President, Student Gov since 6th grade
-Varsity Athlete 3 years: Crew/Rowing
-Cello since 4th Grade, Select Orchestra since 10th
-Co-Founder, Mock Trial Club
-Service in Romania, Appalachia, locally through Habitat for Humanity (youth Coordinator)

Essays: I did research culminating in a presentation to the CT Department of Environmental Protection, wrote about that and how it complemented my interest in policy studies
-Why duke was pretty solid, combined both policy interests with gut reaction to Poli. Sci. class, with a brief reflection upon how i viewed myself in relation to my grandfather

Thanks guys, and best of luck to you all :)

If you are taking the most difficult course-load out of any one in your class, I would say that you are in ED.

Make sure to bring up your senior grades though, since if you can bring them up AND are deferred ED, you have a good chance at RD.

Your GPA is low for Duke, SATs are above-average, and ECs are solid.
Good luck! All and all, legacy will give a boost too.

Thanks alot Mondo. I am taking honors physics instead of AP, and I am in Calc AB not BC, but other than that I have the strongest course-load possible (minus taking a second-foreign language). Certainly I will try to improve my GPA if at all possible, it might be a little easier now that student gov homecoming stuff is over with whew
Anyone else?

bump(10char)

wound up getting a 3.73 this quarter in 4 APs...how do they consider senior grades?

I got into Duke with a 3.7-ish GPA first semester senior year with 6 AP's and I got in RD, that will probably not hurt you. Senior grades are probably not as important as junior grades.
