Essays:
-Hopefully, I'll do my best, I think they will be good though - I have a couple of ideas.

It would be interesting to know why your grades show a great upward trend. Did your priorities change? Did you view school in a different way? Did you just study harder? Did something cause to to mature, perhaps?

Your list of activities is probably pretty average. Your essays will be crucial to get you in. I would advise addressing your upward trend somehow, whether it's a large or small focus, and definitely choosing some activities or interests you're quite passionate about as topics.

Nice test scores; those are fine. And by fine I don't mean "so-so"; I mean that once you're in a certain range, you're in the running.

Basically my grandmother was sick and in the hospital most of freshmen year, and passed away at the very end. I always didn't care about school freshmen year and just was a total jerk to everyone.. then when she got sick and passed away I changed- because I took things for granted, I don't know if I should write about that though, sounds too common.

If you can write about it in a way that will be introspective and not cheesy, it might be a good topic. It won't be easy though...

Just be honest. The important thing is to show who you are.
