final college list chancey chance

im trying to put together my final list of schools to apply to. I think I have too many reaches and not enough matches/safeties, so tell if you think so too or if you see any other problems. help me cut it down to a good list of about 5-10. I'm not the typical CC perfect student, but i do have an excellent academic record thus far. what do you guys think my chances are at....

NYU
Boston University
Northeastern University
Fordham
Mass College of Pharmacy/Health Sciences Boston
Rutgers
University of Connecticut
University of New Hampshire
University of Texas at Austin

stats are:
GPA unweighted: about 3.8-3.9
GPA Weighted: 4.1563
Class Rank: top 10 out of about 550 students

SAT (only taken once without really studying, taking again in October):
1820 (CR: 600 M: 600 W: 620)

SAT II (might retake, if necessary):
Biology: 740 World History: 640 Math 2: 580
(probably won't submit math (and history if it seems too low) score unless I retake and do better, or if I have to)

ACT: taking October

AP Exams:
Biology: 5
Statistics: senior year
Chemistry: senior year
Calculus: senior year

High School: fairly decent suburban high school, many well-qualified students (usually a handful of students that get into top notch schools every year)

Classes: have taken honors at all possible opportunities, except one time in freshman year. So far: 15 honors classes, 1 AP class (full-year), 5 elective/required classes, 4 foreign language classes.
Senior year: 3 AP classes, 2 electives

Grades: roughly 18 A and 6 A-.....as of the end of junior year, I have never got anything under an A-

Community Service/Volunteer:
Tutored other students through peer tutoring program at school
Idk if this counts but I volunteered during 2008 presidential campaign (held up signs, went door-to-door, stuff like that)
Not much else....this is one of my weak (if not the weakest) areas....Idk i think i'll do key club this year just to add some strength to this area

Honors:
National Honor Society
1st place in Western New England College Competition
St. Anselm Book Award*
Best Model UN Delegate
High Honors Roll

Tennis Camp (sophomore year)

Also, I have some credits from a local community college

Ethnicity: Indian (of the South Asian variety, not Native American)

Location: NH

Some input would be fantastic, if you catch my drift…

Those test scores are worrisome (SAT I, I mean.) You should raise those and at least break the 2000 mark for some of your schools.

It would have been nice if you had taken more AP Classes / Exams. Your class rank and GPA look good, though. I now pronounce my judgment. Ready? :D

NYU: Reach
Boston University: Reach
Northeastern University: High reach

Rutgers: Match
University of Connecticut: Match
University of New Hampshire: You’re in NH, right? Match.
University of Texas at Austin: Match
Syracuse: High match

Boston College

I don’t know enough about some of the colleges to have any opinion. I think that you have a good shot everywhere though, and good luck.

Chance me back?

Thanks for doing your best man!

it would be cool if other people commented on my situation and enlightened me with their insight and wisdom and such, if you know what im sayin’…

also i got a copy of my transcript today, my class rank is exactly 8 out of 486

Great rank and GPA. Not so great SAT and SAT2. If your scores don’t improve much on the next try, why not apply to a few SAT optional schools? [Optional List | FairTest](ACT/SAT Optional List - Fairtest)
Holy Cross, Bates, Bowdoin, Middlebury,RPI, - good schools.

really would not enjoy going to school in worcester, so holy cross is out. isnt rpi more of an engineering school? not really interested in engineering and stuff like that. arnt the others liberal arts schools?

here’s a link to my whole transcript

I don’t understand how you have lower than a 4.0 with straight A’s and only a 4.1 weighted GPA with all of those honor and AP classes.

Anyways, you seriously should retake the SAT. At least take a few practice tests. Get it up to around a 2000 and your chances will increase by a lot.

well i have some -A’s too. i think taking the elective/required courses may have hurt my weighted

its fun to look back at these. i didnt apply to half of these schools and did break 2000 on my SAT retake. lolz
