Final Decisions; BACKGROUND, Class of 2019

@destiny95 - I think you have something to share!

Yes, A few important events have altered my previous decision to this actual Final decision:

Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music this fall! BM VP/Dance

Congrats and BAL, @destiny95!

I just to provide an update on my son’s decision and progress. He was originally the class of 2019. He was accepted to multiple schools, but wait listed at the one he really wanted to go to. After much soul searching, he opted to take a gap year to hone his skills, get some more theater experience outside of high school and to prepare to reaudition and apply to his dream school along with a handful of others. He dances five time a week, belongs to 3 choirs, has three voice lessons a week, has worked with an outstanding college audition group and auditioned for and made continual shows that will run through May. He also takes writing classes at Second City and acting classes at Piven and the Acting Studio in Chicago. One of the greatest by products of this gap year is that he can see what it takes to live this life and he has learned the art of time management and organization. He was set to audition for 12 schools including his dream school. We also had the time to visit a number of these schools that we did not have last year. In early November we visited Emerson College in Boston. He auditioned as a early action applicant on November 7th. He was notified of his acceptance into their MT program on December 15th. What a Christmas present! As a result, we reduced his auditions from 11 more to only 4. His dream school audition is in about 10 days. At this point, he is conflicted as he really loves Emerson too. As soon as his audition results are in, we will be sitting down and evaluating his options. I can’t tell you how much doing an early audition has improved his confidence. As a family, we are ecstatic that he chose a gap year.

Thanks for such a wonderful update, @martin247998! I’ve been saying this since The D has been at her new school (transfer student) “What a difference a year makes!”

Nice update! My daughter has a friend who took a gap year too and has been working her butt off. I am betting it makes a big difference for her this year !

Just to tell you I am mom of a junior. Have been reading like crazy the past week. Your post has me crying… She is Not only artistic one in the family!

@16bars I hope you’re still checking the board! I would love to hear how your s is doing at Montclair! My s will audition for them in January at unifieds. We are from the Midwest and have visited Webster and really think highly of the program. Do you think that Montclair is as intense with the acting as Webster?

Hello, Thank you for your post. They are all so helpful as we enter this upcoming adventure. My son is looking at many of the schools your son applied to and wondering with all those amazing programs, what was it about Texas State that tipped the scale in that direction? Now that he has a year under his belt, how does he feel about the program? Many thanks.
