I just received a letter from Pitt suggesting that I send a care package for final exams. The university offers 3 care packages for purchase, or a special one that contains all 3. Do most parents do this?

I got that too and it went right into recycling bucket - same “official” (not) university business letterhead and this co. markets to all universities it seems, much along the lines of those special university sheets and that nonsense.

We sent it during freshman year but DS said it wasn’t worth it.

My mom sent one my first semester, which was nice the one time, but otherwise I didn’t really feel/see the need.

Mine went in the recycle bin also. The packages are WAY overpriced. You could do much better just sending your student a care package that you put together.

I sent my dgt the welcome package that comes 4 times a year or something like that. Now, I am getting another request for finals. I was suckered in and all though she liked them I think I will do my own for finals. Then I will know for sure it is all the things she likes. The other ones all had coffee and neither she nor her roommate drink coffee so that was a total waste.

I think it’s a nice idea if you don’t have time to put one together for yourself but my wife tends to send packages every other week so we won’t be using it.
