How are final exams scheduled? Is it done by the day of class or by the professor's discretion?

For example, if class is attended on Monday only, is the exam on a Monday? Or can the professor pick a day during the exam week to hold the exam?

Here’s a link to the 2010 Spring Final Exam schedule.

Each final exam is allotted 2 hours and 50 minutes but depending on the class or professor it does not always last that long (i.e. the test may only last an hour).

Each class has their own specific date and time when they’re supposed to schedule their final exam. They are based on their regular class meeting times and usually occur during the same time and day the regular class takes place. But in the past I’ve had to take a final exam for a 9:00AM class at 7:00AM.
MWF classes have their finals on either a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
Tue/Thur classes have their finals on either a Tuesday or Thursday.

Thank you for the link to the exam schedule. I actually found the Fall 2010 exam schedule at the site you gave me, and that solved all my problems right away.
