I am taking classes at community college. Like most colleges and universities, were not supposed to take our final exams until a few days after our last class. But what usually happens is the teachers just give the exams on the last day of classes and not wait until the final exam days.
Does this happen at universities too?

Happens all the time, at least in my classes. I’ve had a few that were take-home finals, some that were performance based and couldn’t have been finished during the regular final exam time, and some where we did the work before the actual exam time and turned it in when the exam would have been scheduled.

Not really. I’ve had it happen once, but we had a paper due worth 40% of our grade due at the beginning of our assigned final time, so our prof wanted to take it easy on us and not have two huge things due in one day. The only time I don’t have a final during the scheduled period is if the final for the class is a paper or presentation instead of a test. In general, I’d count on staying through finals week. But it really depends on your profs, what kinds of classes you’re taking, etc.
