Final highschool transcript

I am a new freshman year student. Does berkeley need my final highscholl transcript? When do they need it? Who should send it, me or the school?

Ask the admissions people at Berkeley.

Our high school gives instructions each year to seniors on how to arrange for the high school to send their final transcript to the college they will attend. At our school, students have to fill out a very simple form and pay a small fee and put it in a designated box in the office between specified dates. If you haven’t received your school’s information on how they do this, go to the school office and ask the Registrar. Also, don’t forget that you are required to send transcripts of any college/community college classes you took as well.

When do they need the final transcript?

Wasn’t hard to find on the UCB website: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/how-to-apply/dates-deadlines/index.html.

“Transcripts must be postmarked or electronically submitted on or before July1.”

Can I send the transcript myself from post office?

Your transcript has to have your schools official seal and most likely they will not let you send a copy. I got an extra sealed transcript to keep on hand just in case admissions did not receive it before the due date and my son could hand deliver it to the school.

Postmarking is something done by post offices, not schools. From the instructions on Calcentral, I just assumed that we could just post our transcripts etc. by ourselves as long as the transcripts themselves are official. Am I wrong?

From my understanding there are 2 different forms of the transcript. The official/unofficial one - the one from the school, but not signed and sealed that the students can get for scholarship applications, etc. And the official one that is sealed - or in some cases the schools use an electronic system to submit directly to the colleges, ncaa, etc. At our highschool, they posted a big list of all the seniors names and had them write the school they are attending beside it for the transcript to be sent. I was told NCAA would request it the final one from the school. I was told we also have to get the one from his college concurrent classes and it has to be sealed too.
