Cornell CALS ED - High Reach
Penn - Super reach
John Hopkins - High Reach
USC - Reach
UCLA - Reach
CAL Berkeley - Reach
UC San Diego - Reach
UC Irvine - High Match
UC Riverside - Match
UC Merced - Match

I think you have wayyyy too many reaches and could very likely end up at Merced or Riverside. With your scores/ GPA you are aiming too high. You should be looking at more matches.

What if i got

M 780 CR 740 W 710 <<<< practice test

and SAT II 800 800?

I dont agree with UCM and UCR being matches....those are safties and i believe UCI and UCSD are matches

With those SAT scores things change significantly...

How significantly?

cornell ED becomes much more plausible, especially if you are in the top 10% of your class. if you aren't in the top 10% and your scores stay the same i'd probably have to agree with slipper's initial evaluation. 1st gen helps though.

tookk another practice test M 710 CR 710 Writing 770

Now im not so sure.

My rank is 11/600

i would then probably voice an opinion that slipper was a little too harsh, probably move everything down one level from what slipper assigned it:

ie: high reach = reach, reach = match, match = safety

just my opinion, if you end up improving your SAT scores. ED to cornell might even turn into a low reach/high match, but then again i'm not an admissions counselor. you have cornell and Penn, have you considered Northwestern? people usually apply to these three schools in tandem

Northwesern...that would be a reach....ppl have been telling me not to add reaches, but ill look into it. Thanks.

hmm northwestern is nice..

Unless you have a hook, such as being a URM, your current statistics will not get you into the top schools. I would replace Cornell, Penn, and Hopkins will some reasonable reaches and matches. Look at Boston University, Syracuse, George Washington University, Wake Forest, Fordham, U of Rochester, Case Western. University of Rochester is a reasonable choice for you. It is private, has prestige and is likely to grow in reputation, and is good for engineering, science, and premed. It really has a lot in common with your top three choices, but you would have a good chance for admission.

If you are planning on sciences or engineering, look at Columbia's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. It is a lot less competitive for admissions than the Ivy League section- Columbia College. But, it seems to fit in with your top choices, and you may have a chance there.

Does anyone think i would be stand a chance at COlumbia SEAS biomed engi?

Your grades and scores don't scream "engineering" to me. Are you a science type? Usually entering engineering school means you love math and science, and are very good at it. Embarking on engineering, at a place like Columbia, without a string a A's in math and science courses might be a risky path to take.

Columbia's engineering has a higher admissions percentage, due to fewer applications, but I believe the grades and test scores are quite high.

Exactly. I love the sciences and maths but I havent performed well in school in those subjects. On the other hand my test scores are better in those subjects. I know I wont get into Columiba SEAS because of this...or would I? I can raise my test scores, but I dont know if if im ready for the math. I want to go into medicine, but now im not sure if i can get into a school as a bio or bio eng major on the basis of my B's. Should I just change my career goal?

Ive done so much better in English/ history.....what should I do?

Need helps!!!!

I can handle engineering/biology......the only problem is getting in....my grades dont scream those subjects. Has anyone gone into the medical field w/o majoring in science??
