Final MT Decisions Background - Class of 2022

Believe it or not - we will need this thread soon so setting it as a placeholder. Hopefully, a moderator can pin it to the top.

Below are the categories from prior years and a link to last year’s thread:

Mods: Can you please delete my reply (post #1 and now this post #2) in this thread? I realized too late that this thread was devoted to final decisions only…thanks!!

Bumping this up. Surely we should start getting some final decisions? Can an admin pin this thread?

I believe that we also traditionally had a had a category before “Programs Applied To” that was something akin to “Background”, which allowed a summary of experience heading into the process. I found this to be very helpful in adjusting expectations.

I can get the party started, but to leave my son a small shot at anonymity I will not be very specific.

He applied to five schools.

Submitted and passed one prescreen although that ended in a rejection. (Penn State)

He was accepted to two schools.

He canceled his audition for his safety and withdrew from the process for the last school due to the acceptances he had.

I am over the moon excited to finally officially be able to say that he has committed to be a member of the CCM Class of 2022!

Good luck to all of you! I hope that your children will find a place to be as happy as mine is.

Congratulations!

@MTiskillingme WOW, that is impressive. I know you want annon but can you tell us if you used a coach? No name necessary. And best wishes and celebrate!

Congrats, @MTiskillingme! That’s awesome!

@Notmath1 We did not use a coach. I was very clueless going into this process. He had done research, and we learned a lot at a fall visit to Penn State. That would be one piece of advice I would give to a clueless parent that is getting on board late in the game. Visit a competitive school early. They were very informative about the whole process. For this I will be forever grateful to PSU!

PSU is amazing! D was waitlisted, then released. A sad day in our house!

Congratulations @MTiskillingme !!

@anotherBwaymom - Welcome to the Chanticleer family! Selfishly, I’d love to see you post here so I can learn more about your d’s journey!

@AlexaMT Thanks so much!! I am waiting on one more decision before I post! But, she totally chose Coastal immediately after audition day! Couldn’t be more thrilled for her!

Long-time reader (and musical theater lover - hence my username being a reference to my all-time favorite movie-turned-musical “Anastasia”) here who finally joined this forum earlier today. I’ve loved reading about people’s final decisions over the past year or two, and I can’t wait to see where everyone ends up!

Well our decision is made - after a phone call on Monday to solidify one thing she will be pushing the button and submitting her deposits. I am soooooooo happy this part of the journey is over and we are on to the next phase.

Background - she is a trained dancer who always thought she would major in dance. After breaking her foot a couple of years ago she realized that she would have to diversify a bit if she wanted to be in the entertainment world. friends have been asking her to join the high school musical for years so in her junior year she did and was hooked. We had no idea the amount of time, effort and heart would be going into this process. I joined CC a while back and am so thankful I had all of you to glean my information from.

Programs applied to: Texas State & Rider (but very soon after withdrew her app) Muhlenberg, CCM, Point Park, Texas Christian, U of Tampa, Columbia College, U of Arts, CCPA @ Roosevelt, Millikan

Prescreens: TCU passed

Accepted To: Muhlenberg, Point Park (academically & theater redirect) TCU (academically & theater redirect) U of Tampa BFA MT and offered a dual major of BA Applied Dance, Columbia College, Millikan (BA MT), CCPA MTD

Rejected: U of Arts (that one gave us a hmm??? moment), CCM (a reach and she just wanted to try so it wasn’t a surprise). I feel like I should add PP (horrible NYC Unified audition experience) and TCU (this one stung a bit) here too since she was rejected from BFA MT programs.

Coach : MCA We loved Chelsea and unfortunately only worked with her to develop a list of schools to look at and which would be Reach/Match/Safety If I had the money I would have had her work with them a lot more and I think that would have given her the confidence to try some more higher level schools.

Summer Programs: Broadway Breakthru she learned a lot from her week there.

Final Decision: Up until 30 minutes ago she was wavering between U of Tampa and CCPA. We have visited both and like both schools. They both have pros and cons but the pros of CCPA vastly outweigh the cons. She fell in love last year when we went for our first visit and the program is so focused on what she is looking for that it really has been her number 1 all along. So short story made long - She will be heading Chicago and CCPA in the fall.

Background: MT since 6th grade. Full year program plus one summer dance intensive-competition and one summer at Papermill Playhouse

Programs applied to: Marymount, Montclair, Emerson, FSU

Accepted to: Montclair-MT, Marymount-BFA acting only but wants MT,

Prescreens: FSU passed

Rejected: FSU and Emerson (academic teacher failed to send recommendation on time) so we don’t know if he made it artistically

Coach: No

Final Decision: Montclair

Congrats!!!

Bump. Moderators can we get this pinned please?
