Final Official Early Decisions Thread

I'm In!!!!

deferred. there are so many deferrees... it is all because of Harvard's and Princeton's decisions to get rid of EA... well....

deferred...i'm so happy!

Decision: Rejected

Stats:[ul]
[] Fee Waiver Used?: No
[] SAT I (by section): 710 CR 730 M 800 W
[] SAT IIs:760 USH 730 WH 730 Lit
[] GPA, Weighted and Unweighted: 4.41/5.something, no UW
[] Rank: 46/490 <-death
[] ACT: 34
[] APs (including this year's): AP USG: 5; AP USH 5; AP Calc AB 4; AP Lang 5 (taking 4 more this year, the max)
[] Senior Yr Courseload: 4 APs and 1 mandatory honors double period
[] Number of Apps from Your School: around 3 others?
[] Other stats (Awards, etc.): AP Scholar with Honor, National Merit Semifinalist, County Mock Trial champions
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] ECs listed on app: Co-founder/Lead Attorney in Mock Trial since frosh, Co-founder/Treasurer of school chapter of Amnesty International; founder of Forensics/Debate team; editor in school newspaper
[] Job/Work Experience: Worked a full-time internship at the local courthouse over the summer
[] Essays (subject and responses): Common app essay was about an important person in my childhood; responses seemed OK. My supplemental essay wasn't spectacular, I guess. My RD essays seem to be better.
[] Teacher Recs: No clue. I got my physics teacher (saw me struggle and eventually get into AP Physics through effort) and my history teacher (adviser for Mock Trial and Forensics, part of the magnet program, knows me very well)
[] Counselor Rec: No clue. Very nice person, but a bit inexperienced with high-level applications. I never asked to see any of my recommendations (breach of trust?), so I have literally no idea what they might say.
[] Interview (feel, interviewer and general location): None offered. This in particular sucked.
[] Hook (TASP, RSI, Research, etc.): None. Sucks.
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: NJ
[] School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): New magnet program in an average public school.
[] Ethnicity: Chinese-American
[] Gender: M
[] Income Bracket: $150k+? I have 3 parents, so I'm not sure here.
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None.
[] Strengths: I'm not the science/math asian? I made every extracurricular that I'm a part of today.
[] Weaknesses: Grades/rank.
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: I have a relatively weak rank because I started freshman year in low/regular-level courses, and I had to work my way up to the honors and AP classes. That, sprinkled with some unfortunate luck, led to many B+s. My essays were not tear-jerking, and I doubt my recommendations were as superb as they could have been.
[/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I sadly expected this. Damn. I'd hoped that they might look past the grades and see me, but I guess I didn't show myself well enough. Beware, future ones. Make sure everything is obvious. I didn't write about my extracurriculars because I thought it would be cliche. Make sure that you are always strong in your essays. Make sure that you are seen as a person. I wish I'd gotten an interview, too. Damn...the website letter is made of ice.
