Yes I do. I’m giving him his guaranteed chances. Of course I believe he has a chance at the schools I listed as rejected. But I think for sure this will happen. Im a high school student who knows what kinds students of colleges the colleges want and how competitive the application really is. I’ve also been to my seminars and met with alumina from these schools listed. Care to state your credibility. @intparent

Caltech has EA. I’m surprised aunt bea said otherwise especially her Sonia going there. I think it’s easier to get into CalTech than MIT .

@DrGoogle That’s what I’ve always thought, but it seems like lots of people here on CC think Caltech is harder than MIT

That is because you are asking fellow high school students for chances. :)

Caltech is much more straight forward. All you have to do is look at the essays at both school. What’s the admission rate for Caltech? I think for female it’s like 20% one year, but for MIT it’s much lower.

bump

bumpp

Unless you have application fee waiver from the UC, you may want to drop UCSB to save money.
Your list is fine, but you need to concentrate first on the EA apps and some apps for other private colleges that you think you will attend if you are admitted. Of course you need to work hard on the UC apps. Work on the others later, or forget about them after EA results.

My mistake, I meant to say that Caltech didn’t have ED.

@coolweather do you think I don’t need UCSB as an absolute safety?

Because I am confident that you will get in at least one of UCB, UCLA, and UCSD. Did you get the ELC notification?

@coolweather yes I did

Bump

Your stats are undoubtedly amazing. Like the rest however, I can’t say with 100% certainty whether or not you’ll get accepted. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got accepted to all of them either.

MIT/Caltech/Ivies/Stanford are really a tossup, people like you are a dime a dozen and it might be tough to beat them out. That said, don’t be too worried, I think you have a solid chance of getting in because your stats are highly competitive. Like someone mentioned above, Wash U has a tendency to reject people who they think are using the school as a safety; barring that, you should get in. All the UC’s should be acceptances except Berkeley which rejects some highly qualified candidates sometimes.

My only advice would be to work on your essays and set yourself apart from the others, good luck!

Your test scores and GPA look great, and you should be accepted to most of the colleges on your list. I’m not completely sure about Stanford, Harvard, Yale, and Columbia though

I think you have great chances. Your GPA and test scores and ECs and other stats make you a competitive applicant. If you have great essays and can stand out more, I’m sure you’ll do well, though you never know with the ivies and the very competitive schools you’re applying to. Good luck!

bump

OP, you obviously have great stats and will get in to most of the univs on your list. What bothers me is that with a family income of 35k you are thinking of spending on so many apps !?! Or are these free for you ?

@i012575 I’m getting fee waivers

You shouldn’t submit a research paper to non-technical schools, I see you have Yale on your list. Atleast thats what the admissions rep said. I think if the research is groundbreaking its acceptable otherwise just submit the abstract.
