Final question about the 1098 t and aoc...Please help!!!

i have an issue where the amount billed is way less than i actually paid. in 2011, my 1098 t stated that i was billed 22,000. my scholarships and grants were only 2000. I only paid about 9000 for tuition in 2011 because i dropped below full time. I never claimed the extra 11,000 on my 2012 taxes. i never receieved a refund for the 11000, they charged me part time tuition as i continued to pay full time tuition. after i paid for spring semester, they credited the 11,000 to my account, which left me with 300 left over. Now for the fall semester they billed me 6300 and i paid 6300.

when i got my 1098 t for this year it states that they billed me 1400, but i actually paid about 12,000 in 2012. my scholarships and grants were 2907 dollars

what can i do in this situation?

Use your own records, not the 1098t. Print out your billing statements, and gather your own records for what you paid and when you paid it. Those figures are what matters.

The 1098t forms are very nearly useless, it is a wonder that they are required at all. They just lead to lots of unneeded confusion.
