Final redo of SAT VS. take subject tests?

Hi all. Application season is here for us seniors.

CC has been really helpful to me in fixing up my application and playing catch up.

I have been pretty unorganized with my application process. I didn’t study for the March SAT, and so I have been living with bad scores until now because of it. I took the October 3 SAT and finally got my stuff together.

Math: 800
CR: 750
W: 580 (I know)

I have time to sign up for the December SAT, but I’m having trouble deciding which test to take. I don’t have any subject tests, which I will need to apply to tough schools.

On the other hand, cost is a really big factor for me, and I might end up going to a less prestigious school for financial reasons. It is my understanding that most less prestigious schools like Rutgers and Virginia Tech(both of which I like) don’t care much about subject tests, and so if I went to one of these schools, I would probably be better off trying to take the SAT 1 again to fix my lousy writing score.

tl;dr I need help deciding whether to take the SAT 1 or 2

Check each of the schools you are interested in to see if:

a. Care about the SAT writing section.
b. Require or recommend SAT subject tests.
c. Accept SAT scores from December.

Note that you can also try the ACT for another chance if you choose to take the SAT subject tests.

Many schools also accept January scores. You can take the subject tests in December and the reasoning test in January. It is not so easy to put a lot of points on a CR score in 6 weeks, especially if you are already around 600.

My problem is writing, not CR, but I appreciate the advise.

@Mystogen
Sorry, I misread the scores. You should be able to fix Writing in 6 weeks if you study properly.
