Final Stats and Results Thread

I'm bumping this board. Can we put a sticky on in - so that future applicants can see it?

Helpful thread. Can anyone add to it? Thanks :)

wow, this thread is making me so nervous. I mean, if this is what i have to compete with......bangs head againstwall I'm totally doomed.

I know, I am so scared. Thanks for helping us, though, last year's applicants. lol. Could you please chance me? I would be so grateful. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/436813-chances-i-know-you-hate-them-but-please-help.html . Thanks.

My son is in public middle school 8th grade
Taking all gifted and talented classes including Algebra II --with very good but not perfect grades: A in English, Science, and Spanish--B+ in social studies and B in math (opposite of SSATs-see below)
Plays 3 school and club sports: soccer, bball, and lax
French horn in school band
Great recs especially from English and music teachers
Community service done in sports-related areas for underprivileged
SSATs: 80percentile math, 60V==N.B.
(this is 97th percentile in USA as estimated by college boards--applicant pool to BS is roughly top 5 percentile in USA)

Aced interview at Deerfield and essay geared to this school well-written and
thoughtful...
Coaches very receptive at Deerfield, Nmh, and Hill and had been contacted on several occassions after interviews (this appears to portend success)
Coaches and admissions staff lukewarm at Lawrenceville and Blair
Accepted at Deerfield, Hill, and NMH
Going to Deerfield

Nervedoctor, nice to see well-rounded kids getting into good schools. Question: what does "N.B." mean on your son's SSAT stats? You posted he got a 2000, what does that translate to % wise? I'm looking at prior posts and a 2000 can be anywhere from a 45% to 60%, depending on gender and grade.

N.B. = nota bene = note well (or please take note, or pay attention, or take notice...). Or maybe it means something different here.

N.B. "nota bene" is Latin for "note well"
I am not positive about the relative percentile variation of the score 2000--but this seems to be a cut-off for consideration at a few schools as does the 80 percentile in at least one subset of the test. This is all hearsay, therefore take it with a grain of salt. I am so impressed with the students who have written their stats. There are a multitude of bright young people heading to boarding schools and they should be proud of all of their accomplishments.
