Nifty EC's:
-Debate: 4 years, AZ State Champion, Team/Debate Captain, NFL (Forensic League) Nationals, Semi-finals of Tourament of Champions (like Nationals) in Extemp, TOC in Debate, elmination rounds Stanford/Berkeley/Yale other tournaments, ASU tournament finals 2 years, 1500 points NFL (Premier distinciton... pretty prestigious)
-Key Club Int'l. 4 years about 200 hours service. Club Bulletin Editor, VP Junior Year. Senior year elected to District Executive board of Kiwanis Int'l as Sect/Treas of Southwest District. I basically oversee 300 school clubs in AZ, NM, west Texas.

Junior Summer-Senior year: Research Grant and volunteer at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. I do about 15 h/wk in cytogenetic labwork and analysis. Assisted in publishing a paper on Hyperdiploid-type Myeloma cancer in an oncology journal (I think it will be in Jan/Feb in Blood hematology). Entering Intel STS, didn't have stuff together in time to enter Siemens
-Science club: Co-founder, 4 years, Treasurer Jr year, VP Senior year. Got to state finals of the National Science Bowl.

Other:
-Great teacher recs:, person who got me involved in both scientific research (was my AP Bio teacher frosh year) and was moderator of key club. She adores me. Debate coach was also my AP Euro teach/Econ this year, he will rave. Counselor is a good friend
-Essays are relatively good to very good, finalizing them now, they are pretty 'me' and integrate some of my main activities with my pretty quirky personality/humor. But who knows.

Thanks for taking the time to read. Any input is appreciated. Thanks again and I hope your college apps process goes exxceellently!

I would say you're in everywhere except Yale (don't ask why, I don't know)... but those are some crazy stats and really good ECs.

bump... what do you think about stanford

bump.. a lot of views but no replies

i wouldn't be surprised if you got accepted to Stanford...

Why are you setting your expectations so low??? From my knowledge, Harvard takes nearly all national debaters that apply to their school, as long as they ahve decent stats, which you MOST DEFINITELY do.

Hmm... well harvard isn't my top choice (shocking I know).
I might apply there RD if I get rejected at Stanford just for the hell of it.
Any last thoughts before this thread dies?

I'll bump this thread one last time, just submitted my SCEA. My essays turned out really awesome in my opinion.
Anyways, if you have an opinion tell me before this thread disappears.

My opinion is that your chances are very slim. Better get on those AZ state apps!

Thanks for the encouragement, Ashveer. What did you think my chances were? 13% ;) Anyways, Arizona is so desperate for decent people that I haven't really had to and probably won't have to fill out apps (they have crazy recruitment, just ask you for a transcript basically). But that's kind of besides the point.
