Final thoughts on courses for 10th grade before I finalize? Please?

AP English Language & Composition
AP World History
Accelereated Pre-calculus/AP Calculus AB
AP Biology
PE 2
Spanish 2
Okay, the only thing I had a problem on was the science. It is highly recommended by the counselor to NOT take AP Biology without taking regular or Pre-AP Biology. I asked you guys on another thread of mine and you all said for me to do AP Biology since I obviously wanted to take AP Biology and not AP Chemistry. But I was concerned that I might not get an A. So what do y'all think of my schedule? Before I finalize it!

Don’t take AP Bio. Take Honors Biology or whatever your school offers before AP bio.

AP Bio is one of the easier sciences, at least at my school (harder than APES but much much easier than AP Chem and AP Physics). It shouldn’t be so bad going in with no previous bio course, unless your school has a really hardcore teacher or something. I’d stick with AP Bio for next year if that’s what you really want to do; if you’re really worried, start studying over the summer. (I recommend Bozeman Biology - that’s pretty much what my AP Bio class has become haha) Good luck!

@sonofgod908 We don’t have honors, but we do have Pre AP Biology. The problem is, if I take that it’ll mess up my senior and junior schedules. I won’t be able to do IB HL Biology later.
@elf4EVA I don’t know if this is considered hardcore or normal teacher for AP Bio, but the counselor says there are usually about two kids in the class who get an A, and those students are the ones that have taken Pre-AP Biology before.

Is your school super competitive? And are you at or near the top of your class? If yes to the latter, I’d say you can handle it. And again, studying some pre-AP stuff over the summer can really help :)

Do you have to take AP Bio before IB because that doesn’t really make much sense…

You are allowed only 6 classes?

Is it normal to take both AP and IB Bio–that doesn’t make sense to me. Have you discussed your whole high school program with your counselor? If kids in your school are only taking 6 classes per year, then how would anyone get through 3 full years of bio as you seem to be implying is normal? What about the other sciences?

@elf4eva My school is competitive, but not SUPER competitive. There are a lot of us though. I am ranked 3 out of 958 but there’s a big tie I think.
@Animefan1998 Yes, AP Bio is a prerequisite for HL Bio.
@texaspg Well there’s only 6 periods so…
@mathyone Two years of Biology. AP Biology is considered the first year of HL Biology at my school. I guess I didn’t make that clear. I am currently taking chemistry and I will take either SL Physics or Chemistry as a senior.

Anyone else want to help me? Thanks to the people who already have.
By the way, this will be officially finalized on Friday, so I need help before then!

Come on guys, this is my last day? Can someone else please contribute. I appreciate everyone who has commented already.

I am currently in AP Bio as a senior all it really is is memorization if you can do that I would recommend it. If not take Pre Bio.

Don’t take AP bio unless you have taken Biology 2 first or whatever comes before it!

Two conflicting opinions! AHHHHH! What do I do???

Sorry if this is late, but I would take a look at a textbook and if you think you can handle it, I’d just study Pre-AP bio over the summer so you’re prepared.
I’m confused, though- At my school, Bio and Earth Science are offered freshman year, but Earth Science is only for those that…aren’t so gifted. So what science did you take freshman year?

How does my sophomore year schedule look?

Honors English 10
Honors Pre-Calculus
Honors Physics
AP Macro Economics
AP American Government
Spanish
Gym/Health
Study Hall

@karmacharma I took Chemistry. It was recommended for people who were in Algebra 2 which is the advanced math for 9th grade. I could have done Pre-AP Biology, but I thought Chemistry would be more beneficial for some reason. Now I’m stuck in this situation.

Hey everyone, we met with the counselors today and she said I can’t do AP Biology. I really wanted to, though. We can still change it though. How do you think I can persuade my counselor to let me do AP Biology?

Take pre ap bio
