Final transcipt question

So, how much does the final transcript grades (as in second semester of senior year) affect college admissions? how much can your grades drop without admission offers being revoked?

are there any specific colleges known for revoking admissions or being strict about the final transcript?

any input is appreciated..

The mid-year report affects admissions for borderline applicants.

It is very difficult to predict when acceptances will be withdrawn due to final senior year grades. They are mainly looking for a strong dip in performance without any reason other than senioritis. There have been cases of having acceptances withdrawn for having a single C when the student was nearly straight A's before. Private schools are probably more likely to do it than large public universities. It could be related to the college's yield for that particular year. If they find a higher than normal number of people deciding to come in the Fall, they may not have enough dorm rooms and so they will look for a fair way of thinning the herd a little bit. Bottom line is that it doesn't happen that often and it is unpredictable.

If you find yourself in that position, negotiate. They will ask why your grades fell and you will have a chance to respond. You can offer to start the Fall semester already on academic probation. You can offer to start in Spring semester instead of Fall semester.
