Here's my deal: I applied to McGill to transfer as a sophomore. I recently checked my application status on their website, and it said "Further Review Required" and that they needed my final transcript before they would make a final decision. Since they are a Canadian school and receive applications from primarily Canadian students (whose semesters typically end by the end of April), they're able to make decisions by mid-May. At my current college in the U.S., however, my final grades will not be available until June.

I've applied to several other American universities to transfer and if admitted to any of them, I'll need to send them a commitment and send a deposit some time in May or early June, probably before the time I'd find out from McGill.

I called their admissions office, and they said that my application was in a pool of applications that they were "interested in," but that they wanted to see my final grades before they made a decision. I explained my situation to them and asked if there was any possibility of getting a decision earlier, and if I could send a mid-year grade report instead of a final transcript, so that I could avoid throwing away a deposit at another school. They would not budge and said that they absolutely had to have my final transcript.

My worry is that when my final transcript gets to them sometime in the middle of June, they'll have already made all their decisions for transfers (their estimated date of release for decisions is between March 2 and May 18). Is there anything I can do to avoid this? Should I send them a letter, call them again, and explain my situation again, or what?
