I don’t recall being asked for final grades- midterm report, yes.
In the context of being in the middle of final exams, and all the angst and worry that generates, I am now being asked if final grades will be made available to the boarding school. I don’t know. I don’t think so.
Do boarding schools ask to see final transcripts?
Anyone? DD is really (unreasonably) anxious about this!
Will we have to submit more info, or is acceptance a done deal?
It depends on the boarding school. St. Andrew’s asks for a final transcript.
I believe most schools do request the final transcript to be sent by the student’s current school.
Well, she will have to soldier through the week with her unwarranted jitters, then, I suppose.
She is almost through. Friday night is 8th grade dance (2 hours in the school gym), then next week 8th grade culmination. Exciting times!
Choate asks for the most recent report card, specifically saying it does not have to be the final one. I imagine they would only ask for final one if there seemed to be a downward spiral, indicating a crash and burn…
Hill asked for final transcripts.
DD’s school has not asked for anything yet. Her middle school asked for an address to transfer records, though, instead of the LPS. And I doubt that she has anything to worry about anyway- maybe an A drooping to an A- or something. But it is that crunch time- finals!
Thanks @calmpony, @Cameo43, @mexusa, and @gusmom2000, for your inputs. Any other school inputs besides Hill, Choate, St. Andrews?
As long as she passes, she has nothing to worry about. AFAIK, all schools will want a final transcript.
Loomis requests final transcripts
All schools request the final transcripts and want to see that new students successfully completed 8th (or 9th, etc) grade at the previous school.
NMH wants the official final transcript with seal sent by June 30.
I think most schools require final transcripts. I didn’t do anything, I believe the current school just does it. My child ended up with a C+ on final transcript. No one ever said a word. We kind of took the perspective, if the school doesn’t ask us, we aren’t supplying it. Unless your child ends up with a huge disciplinary issue or a significant drop in grades, I wouldn’t worry too much. Don’t want to give too much info away - but school has acceptance rate of less than 20% if that helps you put this story in perspective.
Yes, thank you @PSM2013. Today was the last day of school. Amazingly, we received the final transcript request only 4 days ago. It seemed pretty benign. They seem just to want to be sure that nothing crazy-unlikely happened.
Choate asks for final transcripts unless you are in 8th grade.
