a lot is going to change while you’re at college. you’ll want to try everything, and you should try as much as you can. no one I know has ever been damaged by minoring in CS, for instance, but then I think you cannot be damaged by double minoring in art history and archaeology, as I did. I was a wedding ring away from a dig at a roman site near ancient Carthage. It would have been a lot of fun, but it was no place for a newlywed (or so I was convinced) :x

@jkeil911 true point. I think the biggest issue for me will probably be deciding on one; I have entirely too many interests ^-^ Carthage! Agh, I almost knocked my laptop off my desk when I read that! That’s amazing…

an archaeologist is frequently going to find it necessary to get an advanced degree, so you could find out in the summer of your freshman year whether all that dirt and rain showers is the life you want and change your plans accordingly. of course, you’d probably be volunteering for at least a month that summer and have to pay your way back and forth. At Boulder, we had digs going on all over the mediterranean, a big one at Caesarea, and throughout central and southern america. Now there’s a bunch of people who know how to have fun. I don’t know how any of them stay married, frankly.
