Everyone that has replied to any of my threads about where to apply has been a great help, I think I finally got the list of schools I’m applying to finalized in time to start the CSU apps. Can anyone look over my list and give any last feedback? I’m extremely anxious about not applying to enough schools, but I also don’t want to spend too much money on applications. Thanks! Here’s my stats:
W GPA: 3.3
SAT: 1200 (retaking for the last time Oct. 7)
Good EC’s, leadership all 4 years, class president sophomore year. (I know this will only matter for UO)
EI: 3840
List of Schools:
University of Oregon
SF State
UNR
CSULB
Didn’t we have the conversation about Oregon being unaffordable already? They see a California as a source of cash, and if you don’t have the big bucks, you get the big loans.
Add more UC or CSU’s.
If you really must try to go out of state, look at schools which are generous with need-based aid. What is your major or areas of interest?
@AroundHere Yeah, I was going to take Oregon off my list for that reason, but I had already sent my transcript and SAT scores. A family member who went there is paying for my app fee, so there’s no loss in just finishing the application and sending it anyway. Probably won’t apply to UC’s just because of my low stats and if I’m going to stay in state, I’d rather just pay the state school price. I’m applying as a communications major.
Any other CSU/private suggestions for my stats? There’s no others that really stick out to me, but I could be overlooking something. I loved Long Beach because of the things to do on and around campus, if that helps at all. I don’t want too much of a commuter school (SFSU is an exception because of how much there is to do in the city). Was not a fan of East Bay because of the commuter issue or SJSU because they seem to not have a communications major from what I saw on the CSU website (could be wrong).
UNR and SF, probably. UofO and LB, probably not.
Chico, CPP, Sac, Sonoma are worth a tour.
good luck
Has anyone recommended the University of New Mexico to you yet?? Your SAT score only needs to improve 40 points and then you have a shot at getting the Amigo Scholarship which would lower the price down to that of In-State Tuition. (Not a guaranteed scholarship though.) It is a commuter school but ABQ is such a wonderful city in my opinion that maybe it wouldn’t matter.
@LostLilKid No not yet! I will look in to it though! Thanks!
Seconding UNM if you can increase that scorre. Plus 2-3 from #3.
