Finalizing College Apps, How do I look?

Finalizing college choices, Opinions?
Well I am finalizing my 2008 spring transfer applications, and I am looking to get your opinions on the schools I have selected, like shot or no shot. Also, if you see a unique aspect that I have to sell to a school let me know...

Allow me first to describe myself:

BC
UMich - Ann Arbor
Tulane
Villanova
Penn State - University Park
George Washington
PC
Colgate
BU
Purdue

...Suggestions welcome, and Thanks in advance.

Could you let us know the breakdown of that SAT score?

Also, I'm assuming it was the "old" SAT? (I hope it doesn't mean you'll have to re-take in case some schools require the new at this point, even for transfer. Someone here may know; otherwise you might need to check on that).

I think you have a shot at any of them (assuming it was the old SAT). I think you are a fine candidate based on what you have done in your college and working years and that many schools will want to have you.

That said, JUST IN CASE, you might want a school or two which are even safer than your current list. Although one or two of them might be quite safe depending on what state you are a resident of.

IDK what school "PC" is.

You probably already know this, but I would get those apps in to UMich and Purdue (and any other rolling admit schools) licketly split once they open up apps for 2008 transfer. One of those could be your safety if you get the early "yes."

I certainly think you have something special to sell to the schools - which, based on my reading of your above profile and reading between the lines - is how the military and fire-fighting experience have made you "you" and how they have led to you wanting to "give it up" and go for the degree.

Best of luck.

Is PC, Pomona College? Providence College?

Providence College.
SAT was 610 600 590 w12

Go for it, cash. You are not the traditional applicant, but you have a ton going for you. For the schools where essays count (eg, not Purdue or UMich I don't think), if your essays and recs all pull together to show who you are and what you have to offer, I think you'll do well.

I'm sure about all of the colleges except BC. I guess BC is a reaching for you.. well try more like NYU, USC, UCs, you name it! Who knows

I would recommend retaking the ACT. You have plenty of time and I think it would help you a lot. You're a strong applicant w/o retaking, but still, consider retaking it.

Yes, I had looked into retaking the ACT; however, the next scheduled test isn't untill October 14th(ish), which is a bit too late for Sping admissions.

I was thinking that too, about NYU, looking at the transfer statistics NYU is addmitting almost 2:1 compared to BC, so if i stand a shot it might be in my best intrest to go for the higher admittance rate... but no doubt still a great reach.

Why do you think October is too late for Spring Admissions? Most apps are due in March 08.

do you already have the 60 units at the CC? or is this in progress?

I think you will get into these:

UMich - Ann Arbor
Tulane
Villanova
Penn State - University Park
George Washington
PC
BU
Purdue

future remains uncertain for these:
colgate
BC

due to the fact that they are the most competitive on your list.

Granted on those schools, they're very competitive. I do have the 60 credits, with another 20 on the way. For a total of 80 credits, of which I believe 64 are transferable most everywhere. As for the spring admissions maybe I had not been clear, I intend to apply for spring 2008 admission; my applications are due, for the most part, late October early November.

Yes the schools are competitive. Nonetheless, you seem like an applicant that will contribute quite a bit to the school and I'm sure you'll be accepted into a few on your list. Good luck!

yeah, if i were u i would definately apply for spring because you are already losing credits and thats never good.

btw, what state do you reside?

Cash4601 call the schools and ask what the last applicable test taking date is. I know Rice and northwestern will take October 27th scores even though Rice's application deadline is October 15th and Northwestern's is November 1st. SO call the schools you're applying to and ask.

good look on that, i will definatly double check...
Rhode Island

Good Luck! You have a good chance =)
