I've just gotten my final set of SAT scores back and I feel as though my college list is just not what it should be. It seems too long to me but also incomplete, as if there are much more fitting schools that I'm just not considering.

A little background on me, I'm very interested in writing, but even more interested in the use of language in all forms of media. Is it a communications degree for me, then? Maybe not.

Basically, I'm editor of my high school newspaper, but I also work as the Promotions Manager for a relatively well known and successful band in my area. I've been involved in promotions for radio shows and for record labels. I love developing my own writing, and it's been musical poets such as Stevie Nicks and Patti Smith, and traditional poets like Margaret Atwood and Sylvia Plath, who have really served as my role models. Poetic expression, whether it's written or sung, has gotten me through some very "intense" times in my life and I'd like to be in a position to pass on the gift of expression to others.

My stats?

SATs: 760 CR 700 M 800 W = 2260
SAT IIs: 780 Literature 760 US History
GPA: 3.6 UW 4.2 W
Rank: Top 20% (This is going to be explained though...remember those tough times I talked about above? Well, they entailed my removal from one school district because of parental shortcomings, my placement into another, my then police removal from that district domestic issues yet again and replacement back to my original school. Joy, right?)

I'm looking for a school where not only can I grow as a writer myself, but where I can have the chance to be involved in internships in the music business. Again, for me, it's all about passing on poetic expression, the thing that's gotten me through to the point I'm at today.

Now, the important part of this thread, my list:

NYU- Gallatin - Very nontraditional, liberal, and a location to die for, but financial aid will probably bar me from attending.

USC- Thornton School of Music for Music Industry with a double major in Creative Writing- I love the spirit of USC, the city of L.A., the opportunities I would find there and the program I could create for myself...the only downside is the fact that it is just SO much a university and might not be the most liberal in the world.

Barnard- I love the strength of their writers but the vibe of the school turns me off. Don't ask me to explain because I really can't, it's a school I've constantly been told I should apply to, but my visit just did nothing for me.

Wellesley- So much about Wellesley is perfect for me...except the location.

Occidental- I haven't visited yet, so I'm not quite sure

Northwestern- Chicago is lovely of course, but I sometimes worry that Northwestern is a little too traditional for me. Of course, I also often wonder if I could even get in lol.

Stanford- Let's call it a pipe dream. I don't expect acceptance, but I also don't expect myself to have to live with the worry of "what if?"

Loyola Marymount- It's a safety in a great location, but I don't know if the study body and I would exactly mesh. I'm visiting in two weeks, so we'll see, I guess.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
