I don't foresee a particularly positive future in regards to getting into Stanford, Harvard, and even Penn. I'm more so interested in my chances at Duke and below. Thanks, guys. If you leave your thread, I'll give you your chances back.

Well, the fact that you are full diploma is great. It would be preferable to NOT take Math Studies, but the harder of the SL courses… but the overal diploma is hard ( I know, Im full Diploma too!)

You also have great ECs, and a wide variety… plus you come from Down south, an advantage at some northern schools.

I only chance schools I know, so

Stanford- reach (they tend to be unpredictable)
Harvard- reach (it is for everyone)
Penn- lower reach
Duke- match
JHU- match, maybe a low reach (but only by a small margin)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/838448-chance-urm-aa-male.html</a></p>

Thanks! Anyone else?

You have great ECs, which seem to be the biggest selling factor for all the majorly competitive schools.
I’d say you’re in at JHU, WUSTL, and Vanderbilt. Duke is a likely match. UPenn and Harvard are reaches for everyone, but you have a decent shot.
Good luck!

Great! Any other opinions?

you have a super challenging courseload and great ECs!
So I would say you have as much a chance at Harvard as any other very well qualified person (:
Same goes for Stanford
Penn is a low (quite low) reach
Duke is basically a match
JHU is also a match

dunno about the rest!
Good luck though, youre a very competitive candidate! (:

Your academics, awards, and extra curricular are amazing. I also only chance cools I know, so.

Penn - Match
Duke- Match
Stanford- Reach
Harvard- Reach

You being Asian might also make it far more competitive. Best of luck!

Penn and Duke could only be considered matches for a candidate who was a shoo in at HYP.

You certainly have a chance at these schools, especially Duke and below, but I’m hoping you have some safeties too.

Thanks, hmom5.

I figured as much. I was already accepted to my safety school so no worries =D.
Anyone else?

Wow, I was not overly impressed till I hit EC’s–they will carry you through. Ivies are always unpredictable of course, but I’d say you have a chance at Harvard, a smaller chance at Stanford (but still enough to carry on hope), and all others are in the bag.

Why would he have a smaller chance at Stanford? Just curious. Harvard’s average scores are considerably higher as is their average class rank (because of athletes) so I always wonder when I read such posts.

What type of debate did you do…National Forensics League isn’t specific

The only thing that worries me is your sandardized test scores. The AP scores are not spectacular and when compared to a pool of Asians, the SATs definetely are not. Your ECs are amazing though- Out of ten-

Stanford- 3

Harvard- 2

Penn-5

Duke- 5

JHU- 6

WUSTL- 7

Vanderbilt- 7

chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/831718-can-i-get-into-johns-hopkins-engineering-ed.html</a></p>

Thanks! Well, at least my chances are better than the schools’ acceptance rates =P.

Any other opinions?

Now that you are done–I wouldn’t worry about it so much, just relax bro. I’ll tell you right now, as a current student at Penn, you’re numbers are better than mine across the board (SATs, EC’s, ACTs). My class rank was a bit higher, but no worries; you’ll most likely get interviews from most of the schools. If you kill the interviews (start preparaing asap), I suspect you will be happy with the result.

Awesome. Thanks for the chance and the advice.

Your SAT score is below average, especially for an Asian at the top schools (average 2240, so expect the average Asian SAT score to be higher) although your ACT score is better. Most of your test scores are decent, but not great. Your GPA and rank are good as well as your extracurriculars. I’d say it depends largely on how you present yourself. Stanford, Harvard, UPenn are reaches; the rest are lower reaches or matches.

Ah okay. That’s helpful to know. Thanks. I hope my essays will pull through for me.

Stanford- reach
Harvard- reach
Penn- low reach
Duke- match
JHU- match

I wouldn’t worry if I were you, you’ve got a solid chance at all of them, chance back please: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/839129-chances-please-d.html</a></p>

Thanks! I just gave you chances.
