finally my turn to be chanced

Hey,

I am an international student from Beijing, China. Male. Having been studying in America since sophomore year. I am a senior now, and I am applying to:
Duke U (ED, deferred)
Johns Hopkins
Cornell
Rice
Washington University in St. Louis
UC Berkeley
UNC Chapel Hill
U Michigan
Georgia Tech
USC
(A lot of schools? I know)

Academic Interest: Engineering, (business, math)

Stats:
SAT Reasoning:
Super-score: 770 (M); 800 (W); 620 (CR) [2190]
but my highest in one sitting is only 2080 (jan, 2010): 670 (M, i think i filled in the wrong bubbles); 800 (W); 610 (CR)

SAT II:
Math II: 800; Physics: 800; Chemistry: 780; US History: 630;

GPA: 3.95/4.00 (2 B+s,); 4.25 weighted (could've been higher but my 10th grade school didn't offer any honors courses)

APs:
5:Calculus AB; Physics B; Physics C: E-M; Physics C: Mechanics
3: US history

Currently taking:

Honors/Awards:
won American Math Contest among school in both sophomore and junior year;
AP Scholar w/ distinction;

Essays: Decent, I wrote about my experience overseas, and how it changed me; XC; and engineering.

Recommendations: 1 great from math teacher; 1 ok from ap gov teacher, who is also my XC coach; another from my guidance counselor.

No jobs because Im international. Though Duke deferred me, I didn't have the scored then as I do now. I didn't take the TOFEL test.

It’s gonna be tough because your best scores are math and science and, as an Asian, unfortunately that puts you among many other more competetive applicants. I’d say you have a shot at all of them though

hopkins-match
cornell-most likely in
berkely-might be tough, but you have a shot

Bump…

@xAAAx I think you are right. I was hope being international would help me a bit.

@polaris12 it doesn’t quite seem like you know what you are talking about.

please chance me or leave some comments. Really appreciate it.

well apparently they don’t teach manners where you’re from. For future reference, if a person takes the time to chance you, you should appreciate it.

i am also having problems with my reading…

If u got deferred ED to DUKE, ur chances at JHU, Cornell and Rice are low

International students have a difficult time in US unless u show great promise, which i think u kind of do.
U’ll prolly get into Berekley if u dont ask for that much financial aid. And the other schools are matches.

Cornell, JHU, Rice - Low Reach

Are u rich or wat, cuz its hard to get aid if u go ED, uncertain financial aid for international students.

Thanks for the comments.

Sorry if I seemed rude, polaris12, I havn’t made many posts. Columbia is a hard school to get in, but if you boost your SATs to about 2200-2250, I think you got a solid shot.

JayJay321, I have improve my both SAT1 and SAT2s since I got deferred (I had a 2020), I was hoping that would improve my chances a bit. And please, don’t worry about if I am rich.

applying for financial aid or not makes a big difference for international students for schools other than need blind ones.

I realize that, and I didn’t apply any aid to any school.

if thats the case, ur prolly in at Berekley and other lower schools, and ur a high match for the others, except MIT which wud be a reach - low reach.
Good Job

Thank you.

bump… bump

Good Job,I think you can get in at least 40% schools on your list.
