Finally willing to humiliate myself:

<p>My stats:
GPA: 4.0, UW
Rank: 1st in class
AP Courses: I live in the Dominican Republic, and thus the AP and Honors courses at my school are rather limited. However, I am taking the toughest courses offered, including an AP Calculus class and an Honors Lit class.
SAT: 750 V, 690 M
SAT II's: 800 Spanish, 740 Writing, missing another one but I have a feeling I'll get a good score on the MathIC or French test.
Extracurrics: Chairwoman in the Student Council, Journalism Club, School Chorus, ESTRELLAS (Community Service Group), french and italian courses (by the way, I speak three languages: english, spanish, and french), Model UN, Classical Guitar and Music. There are more, but... eh.
Awards: Recognized as a Scholar by the National Hispanic Recognition Board, Commended Student by the NMSC, frequent winner of math/science competitions in school/in the country, winner of school trip to Washington, D.C., Best Delegation in Model UN, recent winner of "Banks In Action" competition, (yeah, I know, it's horsecrap.)
Other interests: Writing, programming, activism.</p>

<p>As you may have devised, I'm a hispanic female.</p>

<p>These are the schools I'm applying to:</p>

<p>(<em>takes deep breath</em>)</p>

<p>Bard College
Boston University
Brown
Columbia
Cornell University
NYU
Swarthmore
Vassar
Wesleyan University
Yale</p>

<p>Also, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to narrow down my list? Anything that is too much of a reach will probably get the boot... or anything that is too much of a safety, for that matter. <em>feeling highly dubious</em></p>

<p>I would say in for sure everywhere but Yale and possibly there too</p>

<p>Since you live in the DR I don't know how much they will care about your 800 on Spanish. You may want to take both math and French.</p>

<p>As for narrowing, if you want the city life, cut the country ones. And if you want a country life, cut the city ones. You should really consider the areas since you have a good chance at all of them I think. Don't listen to thirdtime because nothing is for sure, especially with the ivies, but I think you definitly have a good chance.</p>

<p>Ok, I finally got the SAT II scores that were missing:
MathIC: 720
French: 780</p>

<p>think about whether or not you want a core curriculum. You have both Brown and Columbia on your list, and the schools are on opposite ends of the spectrum considering academic requirements. Yale has no official core, but does have certain requirements. Think about the type of academic control you want over which classes you take, and then decide your final schools to apply to.</p>

<p>Great list! I think you are pretty set everywhere except Yale and maybe Columbia. Dump either Bard or BU, you are 100% in at both so you dont need both as safeties. I would even say a place like Vassar is a safety for you.</p>
