Finals Scheduling?

<p>I'm trying to book my son's flight home (to the west coast) at the end of this semester. I find the Emory academic calendar a bit confusing (<a href="http://college.emory.edu/home/news/event/academic.html"&gt;http://college.emory.edu/home/news/event/academic.html&lt;/a&gt;). As best I can tell, finals run from Thursday, December 11th to Wednesday, December 17th. </p>

<p>Questions:
-- Am I reading the calendar correctly? Is Wednesday the 17th the last day of finals?
-- Is it possible that my son may have to stick around later than the 17th, to turn in a paper that might not be due until the 19th?
-- When does the schedule for his finals come out (i.e., what finals does he have on which days)? I'm assuming that there's a possibility that he could be done before the 17th, yes?
-- When do the (freshman) dorms close for the winter break?</p>

<p>His professors should have given them a finals schedule by now.
Not sure when finals end this year, but he doesn’t need to stay until the last day if he’s done with them all by then.</p>

<p>If there are any papers due after the last day of finals (pretty common), he can type them at home and submit them through email. He doesn’t need to be on campus for that.</p>

<p>Dorms close at noon after the last final iirc. They’re pretty strict about that - but if he needs to stay longer, his upperclassmen friends might let him crash off campus with them.</p>
