What happens when two of your finals fall on the same day/time period?
For example, the french final and the chemistry final are both on December 6th at 4pm...

you get an automatic fail in both classes

JK!!!..i dunno, i think that is not supposed to happen, which means you would have to change one of your classes since it says online “no exceptions granted”. i would ask both instructors though

I pretty sure you can get one moved. I forget how though. Just talk to the instructors about it.

^ lol, that’s funny.

No, you contact your instructors and ask one of them for a different time. Having two finals at one time doesn’t usually happen, since your finals schedule is arranged by class time.

You can ask for a different time!?
I wasn’t sure if that was allowed.

I believe most instructors would have you take it before everybody else.

is this a hypothetical question? Finals are scheduled based on the time of the lecture, so unless you’re taking two classes at the same time it seems like this is unlikely to happen.

But according to this:

[Fall 2009 Final Examination Schedule, Office of the Registrar](404 - Page Not Found)

Waaaaaaaaay at the bottom, the 2010 schedule shows that
the French common final and the Chemistry 1AL common final occur simultaneously,
which is why I’m confused.

have you checked your gold account? or are you going by the link in the post above?

check gold, under my class schedule, at the bottom it lists all your final times

I haven’t registered for classes yet, so I’m only going by that link.

gold isn’t supposed to allow you to register for classes with conflicting time slots.

So I would have to pick one over the other?
How stressful, ugh.

I’m in the EXACT same situation. I’m a French major, so I will probably have to pick that, even though I want(ed) to be premed. Sucksss.

yeah, it does suck a little, but you can always try to take the other class next quarter…

To stay on target for premed you’re supposed to take certain classes and some of those have prereqs so that delays when you can take those classes, etc. So it is kind of a bigger deal than it sounds like. I may try taking both and asking one of the teachers if I can take the final on an earlier day.

I’m pre-med/french major too, haha.
It’s lame how Chem1A +L is restricted for non-science majors, and even then, it conflicts with french. Hm.

I sent an e-mail to the Madame Schultz, hopefully she responds.

Wow, so cool to meet another french major! Esp. one who is also premed. Crazy. I haven’t even met another language major let alone one in french. Guess this means our paths will cross sometime or another while at SB :)

From the registrar website: “If you are enrolled in courses which have conflicting common finals, please inform your instructor at the start of the quarter.”

If worst comes to worse, you can take the course and not take the final which will give you an incomplete for the class for that quarter. Then you can take the final the next time it is offered. If you have instructor and department approval, of course.

i shot the french teacher an e-mail, asking about the conflicting schedules and she sent this:

yay! (:

For any situation where you have a “conflict final” the professor will present an option. Don’t worry about it.
