Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Management?

Hi I'm a senior in high school and I'm not sure what to major in.

I've been thinking of Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Business managament.

I might even double major.

Which would open more career opportunities for me?

Which offers high salaries, and nice compensation?

I've been thinking of going into Invesment Banking, Private Equity, or Hedge funds.

I would like to work for a nice firm.

I don't care how long I work, I can deal with it. Hours aren't a problem.

So opinions please on which major to take.

Plus how long will it take to get the major?

Im also undecided on which branch of business to go into...for me, the least math, the better...and the most money of course...:)

True, money matters, but money will come. You must love your work. I like money and all but if you like your work then the money will rake in.

Just looking for the career with the most potential.

please do not go to a mediocre school and do something like a double major in marketing and business administration...

if you want to work for a top firm, go to a top 20 school and choose whatever major you want.

NOTE--Everything I write is based on info before the current economic crises, i.e. based on last and prior years graduating class(es).

Accounting always seems to be in demand. If you go to a school with an accredited accounting program (150 credit hours required, i.e. 5 years in most, if not all, states at this point) and do well, at least a 3.0 or higher GPA, you can get a job. Of course, you will have to pass the CPA exam.

I work at a SUNY school with a professional accounting major. Our top majors have gotten offers from the top 3 (of 4) accounting firms for the last few years at the beginning of their senior year. Starting salaries have usually been around ( + or - a few k) $60,000.

They look for students with a high GPA and EC's. They want well rounded students with interests outside of acedemics. Join the Accounting Club, play extramurals, etc.

Thanks, I might double major in accounting/finance or accounting/economics.

Which would be better? And have more potential for some really high incomes and job opportunites?

It's a new day. $100,000 will be high pay for some time.
