I'm a sophomore economics major at Michigan with a 3.6 gpa and I'm looking to pursue a career in finance. I've had a few phone screenings and interviews for internship opportunities as a financial analyst but they didn't go anywhere because a lot of times they were looking for someone who has taken the basic accounting classes. I made it to final round interviews with one fortune 500 company but was not selected for the internship.

My question is what would be more beneficial in terms of obtaining a finance internship for the summer of 2010, taking financial and managerial accounting classes this summer and working a regular job, or doing an internship in retail management?

I know retail management has next to nothing to do with finance, but would it look decent on a resume?

Thanks in advance.
