Finance major?

On the Princeton website it says:

(Program in) Finance..... M.Fin.

What does this mean? Does this mean that it is a major or minor or something else??

It’s a master’s program. Princeton does not offer finance as an undergraduate concentration, though there is a finance certificate for undergraduates.

What do you mean by a finance certificate?

I’m not Princeton student, but I will tell you that Cornell and Penn are the only Ivy schools with undergrad business programs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ivy_League_business_schools

The certificate is kinda sorta like a minor at other places:
[Undergraduate Certificate - Bendheim Center for Finance - Princeton University](http://www.princeton.edu/bcf/undergraduate/)

If you want to go into finance, you’d be in very good shape to go to Princeton and do the finance certificate with a related major (math, computer science, operations research and financial engineering, econ).

[Requirements - Bendheim Center for Finance - Princeton University](http://www.princeton.edu/bcf/undergraduate/requirements/)
The program has a lot of prerequisites… I would take most of these if I majored in economics. So would getting the certificate in finance be a good idea?

You could just apply for the ORFE undergraduate program. It stands for Operations Research and Financial Engineering. It seems to be very finance based.
