Due to the economy being in the state that it is in, it is hard to find a job on Wall Street. You can’t get a decent job on Wall Street with a degree in finance in this economy unless you are at the top of your class, went to a top ranked business school, or you have connections of some sort (alumni, family, etc.). Also, I’ve heard a lot of investment banking jobs are being taken up by engineering majors because employers prefer their analytical skills. However, finance is a solid major to employers in other fields becuase it indicates that you had high enough of a gpa to get into the university’s business school and that you can handle numbers. A job that might interest you and is in high demand for finance majors are financial analysts especially in retirement funds. This demand is caused by the coming of retirement age for the baby boomer generation.
