Finance Minor vs MMS Certificate

Hi all,

I love everything about Duke...except their lack of a business major. I've recently learned that Duke offers both a Finance minor and a Markets & Management certificate. Can someone explain the difference between these two options? (I am also interested in the policy journalism & media studies certificate, so I would not be able to pursue both the Finance minor and MMS certificate.) I am basically wondering which would be more beneficial in the long run.

Also, would it be a poor decision if I opted not to major in Econ, and rather chose to pursue a degree in Public Policy? It just seems more interesting/versatile to me. When paired with either the MMS certificate or Finance minor, I feel I will not be at a disadvantage -- is that a naive thought?

Thank you!

I can’t tell you much, but you may find this thread to be helpful:

From a raw knowledge standpoint, you’d learn more with a Finance minor. The MMS certificate is more for practical use, and really is exactly what it sounds like, I would say.
