Hey guys. I am currently planning to double major in Marketing and either Finance or Economics. Which would be the better degree to get? And say if I am in a business school(will hopefully be either at Umich or Maryland) would it look better to get the Finance from the business school with the marketing or the economics from the LSA and marketing from the business school?

Anyone answer which is better? Finance or Economics?

For Umich, the Ross business school is considered more prestigious than the LSA, meaning you should study business there. Of course LSA economics is also a strong program, the Ross business school is where the recruiting is really done. If you go for the LSA, you will have to compete with the Ross kids.

Everyone at Ross gets the same BBA degree, but you get to customize your course work, so you could mix both finance and marketing.

Umich is definitely the better of the two, and I think Economics is more advantageous. I might also add that finance and economics overlap quite a bit which is good for a double major/minor. If yo want to pursure an MBA later take Econ w/ more LAC/Humanities twist because most of what you learn in undergrad business school is covered in B-school...good luck

i think doublemajoring in finance would help you out in the long run. finance majors are always highly demanded. the salary of a finance major is usually higher than an econ.

My major is Business Economics & Finance. Its a degree thats an combination of the business and economic side. :)
