I was thinking of changing my major from accounting to management but after i asked some people ,they told me to stick with accounting. I’m interested in economics but i can’t major in it as it is not offered in my university. So im thinking of majoring in finance as people say that finance is similar to econ. Im not a fan of accounting but heard that it has good job prospects. Also im not that good at maths
So is it better if i take finance or accounting?
Finance is different from econ. Finance is usually in the business school, whereas econ is usually in the arts and science. Course offerings are like 95% different.
Many accounting students aim for CPA. In many states, you would need 150 credit hours to sit in CPA. It means that you also need a master degree. The first time CPA pass rate is about 50-55% if my memory serves me correct. A CPA charter does provide fairly good marketability.
Finance provides almost unlimited upside potential (i.e., very exciting) for right kind of students. Accounting seems to provide a relatively more stable professional path. At the end of the day, it depends on your personality and qualifications. Talk to your academic advisor at your business school.
Nobody on this site has a clear understanding of your strengths/weaknesses, interests, abilities etc. Talk to knowledgeable people who know you such as your professors, career placement office, working business professionals etc. before you choose a path.
